Fitness by Trijake
What is fitness? What does it mean to practice good fitness? There are so many places to go, people to talk to, articles to read, it can be quite daunting to find your path in the fitness world.
There is no question about it, living a healthy lifestyle is a fine goal. But there are so many places to go, and so many new things out there, that people can easily be swayed into the wrong Avenue. Many people approach me, as I am a distance runner, and tell me stories about how they can only run 3 miles and then they just give up. These people tell me they want to run longer distance. I ask them, if they enjoy running. A lot of the times the answer is no. After a shared laugh, we start talking about things they do enjoy. The idea behind TriJake is to find a hobby, or something you enjoy, and incorporate that into your fitness profile. I have trained people that started off as runners, and turns out there cyclists. The fact is we don’t know what we don’t know. And nothing can be more true than our own fitness profile. The problem I find is we get a preconceived idea as to what good fitness looks like. Does this picture seem familiar? Go to the gym, stretch for 10 minutes, warm-up on cardio equipment for 20 minutes, lift weights for 20 minutes, and cool down with a sauna and a shower. That is what most people think they need to do. It’s simply not true. There are many many ways to have a fit, healthy, and clean lifestyle.
This is where hanging out with a guy like me can really come in handy. I’m a dreamer, I’m a believer, I’m a motivator. If you can dream it, we can do it. I don’t try to force any practice upon anyone. I let them find their own journey. When one of the people I work with wants to try something new, we try something new. A big pet peeve of mine in the fitness industry is “it’s the trainers way, or no way.” Most trainers carry that philosophy because they’re scared that they may enter into uncharted territory that they don’t know all the answers. I’m not scared of this, and neither should you be. Together we’ll figure out a path. Not too long ago somebody wanted me to teach them how to play squash. I had never played squash. I play a mean game of squash these days. And it was all thanks to that client. Get a hobby, and get in shape. One of the secrets to my success as a personal trainer has been an open mind and overwhelming willingness to try new things.
I help people build esteem, sculpt bodies, and breakthrough milestone goals they’ve had their whole lives. I’ve been doing it for sometime now. And these people will tell you that simply being in the Trijake philosophy of training has made all these dreams come true.
